Mike has worked with all ages in classes and seminars – because everyone should understand how to identify potentially dangerous situations, and absolutely should know how to handle them. Mike works with youth groups, as well as older adults and everyone in between. And yes, there are many women and women’s groups who turn to Mike for knowledge and know-how; it is a startling statistic that 33% of women are assaulted by age 24. In addition, there are many men who benefit from Mike’s expertise as well.
The short answer to the question – men and women of all ages benefit from what Mike has to offer.
This is a difference with what Mike’s training offers. Yes, he teaches technique and does hands-on training and showcase many types of situation examples, but he also spends much time on the background information of an attack – these are things everyone should know to survive through a dangerous situation.
Mike’s seminars are unique and thorough as he spends much time on areas that are equally as important as the physical education. In order to best protect against crime and assault, one needs to have all the information that Mike provides on:
Mike Austin knows better than almost anyone what the real world is like, and what can happen to innocent, unsuspecting people. As a retired and decorated police officer – as well as a close quarters combat specialist – Mike knows that the unexpected can happen very quickly.
As he will explain, more than six hundred women a day are assaulted in the United States. Many of these assaults are perpetrated by someone that the woman knows. This is a frightening statistic. And as opposed to fancy moves and big talk that some self-defense “experts” use – basically ideas that just give one a false sense of security – Mike teaches real-world tested and proven techniques from the perspective of someone who has faced street violence and can tell you what it takes to survive.
I have studied many different martial arts systems with many different instructors. There are very few people I would agree to spend time training with. Mike Austin – a retired, decorated police officer - is one of those select few.
Thank you for your presentation at Law School Admission Council. The information you shared was informative – and very practical and realistic. It got a lot of people thinking differently about their safety and how many choices they need to
When my daughter was accepted at the University of Pennsylvania, all I thought: West Philly. Not exactly the safest part of town. I literally demanded that she take Mike's self-defense course, and highly recommend it to women of all ages.
I have traveled the world teaching and training martial artists, military, police and more over the past decade, I can say without a doubt Mike Austin is among the best in instructors I have ever had the privilege of working with. I highly recommend Mike.
Mike’s presentation was valuable for promoting my confidence and awareness. I realized I don’t need fancy moves to get away [from a predator].
I look forward to learning more.
It was important to find out how small things can be the best defense, and to learn about overall awareness and empowerment. Thanks for making us more aware of our potential to defend ourselves. it was helpful
